Thread Veins

Thread or spider veins are an extremely common problem, both for men and women. They usually occur on fine skin, around the face, legs or breasts. They lie superficially under the surface of the skin. They can be treated by the injection of a sclerosing agent. Dermabrasion may also help.

The treatment may require more than one session depending upon the area and its extent. Each procedure takes about half an hour. No anaesthetic is required. Many veins are suitable for treatment by injection, in which a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein to coagulate it. The veins dry up. There may be left the faintest discolouration at injection site, but ever so small.

There is very little, if any, discomfort attached to this procedure, and it does not give rise to scars. There will be some minor red markings after treatment that may last two to three days, but ultimately there will be barely any visible evidence of the treatment one has had. Make-up may be used immediately if desired.
